Marciana Gr. Z. 11 (379) (GA 460) is a trilingual manuscript containing Acts, Catholic letters and Pauline letters in Greek, Latin and Arabic in three columns – one column for each language. The codex is in parchment and has 304 folios of ca. 28,7x24 cm. A few folios are missing at the beginning and at the end of the codex.
Our latest computational efforts have been focused on implementing an annotation system on the Manuscript Viewer. The goal is for everyone to be able to add comments on the transcriptions and, potentially, directly on the manuscript images. We believe that such system will offer a more direct and flexible alternative to the forum, in cases where comments are in direct connection to the text (for example corrections on the transcriptions) or the image (for example notes on image elements).
Today, digital projects in Humanities are more and more developed under the form of institutional websites, supported by diverse public and private funds. It is our belief that this new trend is a great opportunity for Humanities research, but generally presents three important issues:
So far, publishers are not partners. Consequently, these projects and their websites are lacking the expertise of the publisher and the usual dissemination reserved to Academic publications.
A "long text" describing the research in detail is not typically included in such websites.
An important update of the manuscript viewer was released yesterday which was, however, almost impossible to be noticed by the users! The HumaReC manuscript viewer has been using the EVT version 1.1.1 so far. Last month, however, EVT released version 1.2.
The manuscript viewer displays the images and text of the manuscript Marciana Gr. Z. 11 (379). It provides a diplomatic edition respecting the formatting (line breaks, colors, etc.) of the manuscript. It is possible to select between two versions of the text: diplomatic and normalized.
